The Budapest Babylab comprises 6 sound-proof laboratory rooms and a large reception area at the ground floor of our building.
We have 3 eye tracking setups with large screens (with Tobii® and Eyelink® systems), allowing flexible change of connections among computers and displays. These setups are also designed to be compatible with looking-time studies, thus allowing data acquisition specific for this classical methodology.
Additional eye trackers (2 portable and 1 standalone Tobii® systems) are available for experiments with preschoolers and adults. They can be complemented with touchscreens. These experimental setups are essentially mobile: they can be easily relocated to other testing areas of the lab or to outside venues, such as kindergartens.
Our EEG lab is equipped with a large screen, a portable Tobii® eye tracker, a small stage (for live stimuli), and an EGI® EEG system. The equipment is controlled from outside the testing booth. The booth is electrically shielded, and is suitable for running EEG studies combined with eye tracking. The lab allows either computer-controlled or live stimulus presentations, but is also compatible with experiments that combine live interactions and screen presentations.
Our optical imaging lab is equipped with a 40” screen and a NIRS system, and similarly to the EEG lab, is controlled from outside. This setup is suitable for looking time studies and for optical imaging experiments.
Our largest testing area serves as a behavioral lab. A set of ceiling cameras, microphones, and a one-way mirror allow unobtrusive recording of children's behavior during the tasks with which our studies confronts them.
